ALS, 1777 April 14 : Philadelphia, to John Langdon.

Written to Langdon, who was the Continental Naval Agent who was building and buying ships for the Navy at this time, Whipple mentions receiving $20,000. from the Secret Committee through John Wentworth. He also mentions a man named T. Wharton, of whom he says: "I can't conceive how you come to form a connection with such infamous Tories, Pensilvania [sic] don't afford a more villanious [sic] Tory than T. Wharton."
